When Accessing Facilitator Materials, you may notice that the presentation slide PowerPoint files are downloading as PDF files. This typically indicates that you are in a Geo Intellectual Property (IP) restricted region. Continue reading for answers to frequently asked questions regarding this security setting.
Question: What is Geo IP Protection Security?
Answer: Geo IP Protection defaults to the highest security setting for any user accessing the Impact Platform from a restrictive region. This means all files downloaded from the platform will include both watermarks and an expiration. If you have any users in a region with the Geo IP restrictions, those users will automatically be assigned the highest level of security.
Question: How was it decided my region would have Geo IP restrictions?
Answer: The FranklinCovey International Team (FIT) and the Platform Development teams made the decision based on feedback and/or concerns from the FranklinCovey team in that region.
Question: How does the expiry setting work?
Answer: Once you download a file, the file is set to expire 15 calendar days from date of download.
Note: any notes entered directly in the file will be lost upon expiration of the file. You will need to print the file with your notes prior to the 15 days; there is not a way to recover notes from files not printed prior to expiration. You can re-download the file as needed once the file expires.
Question: If my company is based in a region without restrictions, can I be removed from the restrictions?
Answer: No, the restrictions are automated based on your location.
Question: If my company is based in a region without restrictions, how can I get PowerPoint files?
Answer: We recommend reaching out to a colleague who is based in a region without restrictions for assistance in getting the PowerPoint files. If that is not an option, and you are based in the US or Canada, please reach out to All Access Care at allaccesscare@franklincovey.com. If you are based outside of the US/Canada, please reach out to your local FranklinCovey office for assistance in obtaining PowerPoint files. You can find your regional contact information on our Global Offices page.
